Position Summary:

Uses advanced civil engineering experience/knowledge in the design of projects consistent with the focus of the firm.

Primary Position Duties:

Performs civil engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and civil engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications 

Performs research to gather pertinent data; complete detailed analyses of data and calculations as necessary; preparation of plans for submittal to various cities and agencies, construction documents and all supporting documentation; provide project team leadership in meeting schedules and budget;  prepare written communication to client and agencies

Performs work of considerable difficulty in the review of construction contract documents, compliance with applicable State and Federal Codes, and completeness with emphasis on building sites and environmental systems; reviews preliminary and final plans and specifications for four types of reviews: constructability, life safety and accessibility, risk management, and program area; makes recommendations for additions, deletions, substitutions when modifications are necessary 

Prepares draft correspondence, technical specifications and reports; attends and participates at client meetings, as appropriate; communicates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate to the project; coordinates final design computations with review agencies; coordinates utility disposition on projects with involved utility companies; prepares draft cost estimates, periodic reports covering construction activities, pay estimates, and data necessary to document acceptability of materials and quantities for final payment; makes periodic visits to construction sites

Participates in project team meetings and follows procedures outlined in Project Management Standards manual

Assists in preparation of project budgets and schedules


Position Requirements:

Fluent English with reading, written and verbal communication skills, Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and other video conferencing software. 

Ability to collect and analyze data, apply problem solving skills to multiple projects, develop creative solutions, work alone or as part of a project team, and demonstrate attention to detail. 

Effective communication skills are essential for this position

Education or Skills:

Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer, active and in good standing
Current Driver’s License

Preferred:
Minimum of five (5) years civil engineering experience
